SCSU School Counseling Graduate Students Have Fun with Supporting Systems Introduction

Workshop with Graduate Students

I had a fantastic opportunity to introduce Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) graduate school counseling students to activities and practical tools of Emotional Well Being Creativity and Learning (ECL).

Activities

We started with some breathing and stretching exercises. I facilitated a demonstration using representatives of students, teachers and their families. Graduate students got to feel the dynamics and how to see the family system lens in schools.

We had some fun with systemic art exercises. We used the South African Ubuntu puzzle exercise.

We also utilized the Inspiration and Intention box exercise, which you can find out more about in the Teachers Circle workshop at Conte West Hills Magnet school blog post.

If you would like a free creative brief outlining either of these activities please contact me here:

Finishing up

We looked at powerpoint slides of Teachers Circle, classroom activities and tools and how to use these concepts in an individual counseling setting. We looked at the Parents Circle, and  the peer mentorship EQUIP program.

The graduate students are so dedicated and curious. I know they can’t wait to start their careers on their road to becoming exemplary school counselors
